HONOR CODE

OMS Accelerated Reader Program

To maintain the atmosphere of mutual trust and confidence among students and teachers, and to ensure that each student is judged solely according to his/her own merits, Ocoee Middle School has established the following Honor Code.

No student will unfairly advance his/her performance in the Accelerated Reader Program, nor will he/she in any way intentionally limit or advance the performance of any other students using this program.

Ocoee Middle School firmly believes in this Honor Code. The student signing the pledge confirms his/her belief in the Honor Code, and therefore, he/she is expected to report any suspected violations of the Honor Code.

Actions that fall under such a code are very broad. The following actions are considered cheating:

                              1. Giving or receiving questions or answers for any Accelerated Reader test,

or in any way cheating on a test.

2. Using notes, movies, videos, or shortened or abridged versions of the book to try

          to pass a test.

3. Using any means besides reading the full, unabridged version of the book to pass

          a test.

4.Completing a test for credit that has been completed previously at OMS or another school.

An honor system secures for the students freedoms, conveniences, and privileges that would not otherwise be possible. All students much accept responsibilities of the Honor Code. A violation of the Honor Code will result in suspension from participating in the Accelerated Reader Program.

STUDENT GUIDELINES

Tests are taken at OMS on the available computers on a first come/first served basis. The student must have his/her agenda when testing. All test results must be recorded on page 15-16 of the Agenda and initialed by a teacher at the time of testing.

  • Each student will be responsible for keeping his/her password secret.
  • A student will not be allowed to use the book or any writing materials while testing.
  • No one but the student testing will be allowed at a testing computer when a test is being taken.  There is not to be any communication with anyone other than a teacher during testing.
  • I hereby state that I understand the Honor Code and Student Guidelines with regard to the Accelerated Reader Program. I understand that cheating is wrong, and will result in suspension from participation in the program.
