April 12, 2005: Donn Fendler Visits Ocoee Middle School
Donn Fendler's story of courage is told in Lost on a Mountain in Maine.
At the age of 12, Donn became lost while climbing Mt. Katahdin in north central Maine.
Barefoot and pantless, Donn survived extreme cold, insect bites, and hunger for nine days.
His courage, determination, and faith never allowed him to consider the thought of dying.

Eighy-nine students met Donn Fendler, heard his story of courage, and received their own autographed, hardback copy
of his book, Lost on a Mountain in Maine. The special event, sponsored by a Maytag Community Innovation Award,
was a reward for students reading from the We the People: Courage Bookshelf.
